We acknowledge that the work we do is situated in Fort McMurray, a community located on Treaty 8 Territory, the traditional meeting grounds, gathering place, and travelling route to the Cree, Dene, Dane-zaa, and Métis. As white settlers, we recognize the human and environmental injustices that have occurred, and continue to occur, on these ancestral lands. We recognize all First Peoples who were here before us, those who live with us now, and the many generations to come. As First Peoples have done since time immemorial, we strive to be responsible stewards of the land and to respect the cultures, ceremonies, and traditions of all who call it home. We open our hearts and minds to the past and commit ourselves to work in a spirit of truth and reconciliation to make a better future for all.
